Public firing terms and conditions
Completion of our public firing drop off form (below), indicates that you understand and agree to the kiln firing terms & services.
Terrapotter Studios takes no responsibility for the loss, damage or outcome of any pieces delivered for public firing. The studio reserves the right to refuse service for any items we feel may result in damage to our equipment.
Terms
To ensure the maintenance of our kiln, the studio will not fire any wet work. Delays in returning your pieces to you may occur as a result of having to wait for your work to dry.
Any grog heavy clay must be fired with an accompanying ‘cookie’.
Glazed pieces must have an appropriate level of clearance to account for the glaze running, or must be fired with an accompanying ‘cookie’. The studio is not responsible for sponging back any glazed pieces for firing.
We strongly encourage having a makers mark with your work. The studio takes no responsibility for any lost/stolen/neglected work.
Damage
Any minor damage made to the kiln shelves (this includes any glaze drips, or damage made as result of using groggy clay) as result of public firing will result in a maintenance fee of $50/damaged shelf.
Any major damage made to the kiln shelves will result in a $250 charge to replace the damaged shelf.
Any damage made to the interior of the kiln will result in a fine based on the severity of the damage, which is to be determined by the studio and an external kiln technician.
Kindly note, we mostly do Bisque, and Midfire (1200-1220C) firings at TPS. We are happy to advise you on where to buy clay and glaze that suit midfire, just shoot us an email. We do not often fire Earthenware or Stoneware, but are happy to recommend you to other studios who do. If you are not sure what clay you have please let us know, and we’ll work with you to solve the mystery together!
